Collegiate 4-H at Marshall University is a club dedicated to continuing the representation and build on the 4-H mission of head, heart, hands, and health in the collegiate space. The main goal of 4-H is to help the younger generation develop knowledge and skills in the areas of leadership, life skills, health, and well-being, animal care, and conservation by teaching them new concepts through hands-on experiences.

This club is dedicated to making the community a better place through events, fundraising and acts of service. Students in this club are involved in helping with local events and organizing fundraising events to help charities and non-profit organizations. Collegiate 4-H at Marshall University is dedicated to raising awareness to local charities including but not limited to; Boys and Girls club, Salvation Army, Toys for Tots Foundation, and United Way.

Imagine an innovative and supportive leadership program where the students go on to become leaders across the university’s campus. From Greek life to Presidential Ambassadors, JMEL graduates have gone on to make tremendous strides in their chosen fields and extracurricular activities. Our award-winning students are the change that is the law of life.

The John Marshall Emerging Leaders (“JMEL”) offers undergraduate students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills in a high-energy, vibrant, and pro-active environment. The students participate in various versatile activities from team building exercises in amusement parks to resume building workshops with accomplished business professionals.

JMEL is an organization that prides itself on leadership through service. The JMEL students volunteer for multiple charitable organizations that include (but are not limited to) the Ronald McDonald House, Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter, etc. The students also participate in several service activities throughout the course of the year.

Throughout the program, students will gain knowledge about finances, ethics, values, and important life skills that are not typically learned in a classroom setting. The students will also take several trips to various places such as Kings Island, Cedar Lakes Resort, Carter Caves, etc. JMEL is an outlet for both the non-traditional and traditional underclassmen to learn vital skills in a non-competitive environment.

John Marshall Emerging Leaders Experience is a voluntary leadership development program designed for students needing support exploring their leadership potential. Students engage in experiences involving 3 central areas, which are ethical leadership, personal enrichment, and civic responsibility. Experiences include everything from attending a cultural event, reflecting upon a social issue, to completing self-assessment exercises.

Participation at many events will automatically count towards progress along the JMEL curriculum. Participation in certain organizations will also automatically count and a self-reflection is required after most experiences.

Through your participation in the John Marshall Emerging Leaders Experience, you will build a comprehensive record that will demonstrate your development of knowledge and transferable skills in key competency areas that focus on ethical leadership, personal enrichment, and civic responsibly. Sisterhood is the essence of all the wisdom of the ages, distilled into a single word. You cannot see sisterhood, neither can you hear it nor taste it. But you can feel it a hundred times a day. Panhellenic is derived from the Greek word meaning “All Greek”. In our Greek community, we have four panhellenic sororities here at Marshall University: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta, and Sigma Sigma Sigma. We are a value-based organization where the members of our community strive to provide thousands of dollars in philanthropic support to chapter philanthropies and community resources in our area. From supporting victims of sexual assault, to leading bystander intervention programs, to fighting for body-positive campus cultures, we as sorority women are fighting to help battle and support those going through some of the most pressing challenged facing collegiate women today. The Circle of Sisterhood is the nationally recognized philanthropy of the National Panhellenic Conference. Their mission is to have sorority women raise funds to provide international resources that remove educational barriers for girls and women facing poverty and oppression.

In Panhellenic, we value the ideas of friendship, leadership, service, knowledge, integrity, and community. We strive for the sorority experience at Marshall University to be challenging, yet incredibly rewarding. Here, the women of our chapters and community will gain a support system of the whole Greek community, regardless of the letters they wear. We will push our women to find who they are throughout their educational journey, become strong independent philanthropic women, provide women with leadership skills, and make numerous friendships and professional connections. Engineering is a primarily male dominated field, which can discourage and stress women who wish to join the profession. As a result, many women tend to switch majors or drop out when encountered with the stigma associated with being a woman in STEM. Through SWE, we wish to alleviate this issue by creating a support group among women engineering students. Upperclassmen women would be able to serve as leaders and mentors as one advances in their degree. Furthermore, we wish to conduct outreach to various schools and organizations in the area to encourage young women to explore STEM fields. Lastly, SWE will serve as a foundation to help students network with companies in the area to ensure women a successful and equal position in the field.

In alignment with the Helen Gurley Brown mission, the BOLD Women's Leadership Network at Marshall seeks to facilitate opportunities for Scholars' career development and networking
through scholarship funding, programming, and post-graduate fellowships.
